Singer Grimes Speaks Out on Elon Musk Bringing Their Son X Æ A-XII to the Oval Office

Netizens are reacting to Grimes statement about her ex bringing their son with him to the Oval Office. The singer addressed the matter in response to a comment made by an X user.

On February 11, 2025, famous entrepreneur Elon Musk brought his and music star Grimes son, X Æ A-XII, with him to the Oval Office. They joined President Donald Trump for a media briefing to discuss the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). According to X Æ A-XIIs mom, she was unaware he would be making a public appearance and penned a widely discussed message on X about it.

Photos shared online show Musk wearing a long black coat over a dark outfit. He accessorized with a “Make America Great Again” cap. His son, clad in a beige overcoat with a stylish navy blue ensemble underneath, stood beside him, exuding confidence with an expressive stance.

The young boy, wearing a gold chain, struck an animated pose, appearing to entertain both Musk and Trump, who was seated at the Resolute Desk in a dark suit and blue tie.

In another image, Musk is seen speaking and gesturing with his hands while standing near Trump. His son, partially visible at the desk, peered curiously into the camera.

The setting, framed by the American flag and golden drapes, provided a striking backdrop to the meeting, which captured a mix of formality and lightheartedness.

Reacting to Musk and his sons presence at the event, an X user penned, “Lil X was very polite today! You raised him well. He was so cute when he told DJT please [sic] forgive me, I need to pee.🥰.”

Upon seeing this message, Grimes revealed, “He should not be in public like this. I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But Im glad he was polite. Sigh.”

Social media users who saw the artists message took to comment sections to react, with most backing her. “No, he shouldnt be. You need to get tough, girl. Hes your baby, not Elons pet,” asserted a netizen, while another chimed in with, “Every time I see him, I wish he was with you, and his siblings. He has a great spirit. But I am worried for his influences and safety.”

Another concerned user expressed, “Is there anything you can do? It is quite disturbing that he uses X in that way. Trump seems to be getting annoyed too, not good for the kid to be in the middle of all this chaos.”

Even more people sided with Grimes, with yet another observer declaring, “Shes right!” “Shes absolutely right, hes a child, not a prop!!” reiterated a Facebooker. Adding to the consensus, a commenter wrote, “Im actually with her on this one lol.”

Praising Grimes efforts to protect her childs privacy, a supporter commended, “Yes mommy, take control of your baby!” Meanwhile, an unsurprised netizen stated, “Was expecting something like this!”

Seemingly sheltering Grimes from any critics, someone else defended, “Shes protecting her child. The child doesnt need to be made a part of the spectacle thats going on!”

Such comments juxtapose others made by the public when they first saw Musk and Grimes son in the Oval Office with his dad. Many swooned over how adorable X Æ A-Xii, known as X, is.

The billionaire tech and his son watched as Donald Trump signed an executive order granting DOGE more power. Musk also addressed the press about the controversial work DOGE is doing. As he spoke, X fully embraced his playful side.

He attracted attention by making silly noises, poking his dads ears, sitting on the floor, picking his nose, and even leaning over the Resolute Desk to whisper to the president. His behavior, captured on camera, delighted fans online, with one AmoMama reader pointing out, “He takes him everywhere. Such a cutie.”

Others were charmed by X’s resemblance to his mother, as one remarked, “Aww what a cute kid [sic] he looks like his mom a lot.” His outfit also caught attention, with a fan noting, “X is adorable and so well-dressed!”

Supporters continued to shower X with praise, with another AmoMama reader swooning, “Hes adorable.” Others admired his behavior and curiosity, with one person noting, “That little boy is very well mannered [sic] and actively listening to all the things his dad is talking about. He will have a vocabulary that wont stop. He is learning a lot.”

Another admirer echoed, “X was so well-behaved for a 4 yr old [sic] who had to withstand a fairly lengthy press conference!”

Some couldnt help but compare him to his father, “Handsome [sic] smart little boy like his dad 🇺🇸🙏.” Another user took a playful jab at Musk, “The kid behave is better than his own father, he’s not really normal [sic].”

The fan-favorite little boys mom has been keeping her distance from Musk ever since they parted ways. Grimes and the Tesla CEO welcomed X in 2020, with Musk sharing a sweet photo of himself holding the newborn wrapped in a hospital blanket.

Grimes and Musk initially named him X Æ A-12, with the singer explaining on X what the full name meant. She wrote, “•X, the unknown variable ⚔️ •Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence) •A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent 🤍+ (A=Archangel, my favorite song) (⚔️🐁 metal rat) [sic].”

However, Musk quickly corrected her, “SR-71, but yes.” Grimes replied, “I am recovering from surgery and barely alive so may my typos b forgiven but, [expletive]. That was meant to be profound 🦔 [sic].” However, Musk and Grimes later changed their sons name.

The news of the name change unfolded in a conversation on X. In a now-deleted interaction, a user known as @therealsainti asked “Did you change the baby name because of Californian laws? What is the babys new name?” Grimes answered, “X Æ A-Xii.”

In another deleted comment, someone else noted, “Nice! Just removed the numbers to confirm [sic] to California law,” to which Grimes admitted, “Roman numerals. Looks better tbh.”

David Glass, a family law attorney, also weighed in on the validity of Xs full name in California, noting that it wouldnt be accepted as valid by the state.

“In California, you can only use the 26 characters of the English language in your baby name. Thus, you cant have numbers, Roman numerals, accents, umlauts or other symbols or emojis. Although an apostrophe, for a name like OConnor, is acceptable [sic],” Glass explained.

Musk and Grimes, who were a couple from 2018 to 2022, have two other kids together. Like X, the parents gave them unique names.

Their other two children are called Exa Dark Sideræl and Techno Mechanicus. Unlike X Æ A-Xii, the former pair did not publicize their births and have since kept their lives away from the spotlight.
