Footage has revealed the moment Jennifer Aniston’s The Morning Show character was doused in fake oil.
Apple TV+’s American TV drama The Morning Show delves deep into the cutthroat world of morning TV, tackling recent events and how they’ve played out in the news – from the #MeToo movement to the coronavirus pandemic.
And a clip from the upcoming fourth season has revealed the moment Jennifer Aniston‘s character, Alex Levy, gets oil thrown over her by protestors.
Earlier this month on July 8, Aniston shared a photograph of herself and co-star Reese Witherspoon on Instagram signifying filming for the latest season is officially in motion.
And photographs and – even footage – has since been shared online of Aniston getting oil chucked over her, while in character, on set of the production.
A clip shared to TikTok – later circulating on Twitter – shows Aniston on set, standing in front of a group of protestors, reported by some as representing climate activists.
Protestors are holding signs which read lines such as ‘Truth Warrior’, and then suddenly out of nowhere from the right, fake oil is brutally thrust towards Aniston.
And it’s not taken long for fans of the show to flood to social media to weigh in on the scene.

Various users seemed confused over the footage, not realizing it was filmed on-set for the TV series.
A Twitter user wrote: “The people protesting big oil threw oil on Jennifer Aniston and she looks confused and horrified. Why do you think they targeted her?”
“By whom and what was their motive?” Another added.
However, if you listen on until the end of the clip, you can clearly hear ‘cut’ being said, indeed, proving a clear indicator of the scene being scripted and for the series.
A second user wrote: “It’s clearly acting.”
“That’s from the show my dude. In a longer version of the video you can hear ‘cut’ at the end and everyone breaks,” a third commented.
And a fourth resolved: “The fact some people thought this was real is very concerning.”
Apple TV+ is yet to announce a release date for season four of The Morning Show, however, with production underway, it’s expected to stream sometime in 2025.
