Vietnamese Guy Created A Complete Cybertruck In 100 Days, His Creativity Caught The Attention Of Elon Musk!

Got a personal response from Elon Musk, “liked”

Truong Van Dao is a carpenter from Vietnam, famous for his wooden replicas of the Tesla Cybertruck. Last year, a video shared on YouTube showed his meticulous cutting process, starting from the basic metal frame to every small detail for the car. It took only 100 days for the wooden design to be completed.

The clip was shared on a YouTube channel called ND – Woodworking Art with a long note dedicated to Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

“I am a passionate content creator with a deep love for wooden cars. I admire both you and Tesla. Over the years, I have embarked on a number of wooden car projects to gain valuable experience. And today, I am officially launching a car that I am very impressed with: Cybertruck. This is also the car that many of my followers love and want me to build,” the YouTuber wrote, ending the post by asking his fans to help him send a message to Elon Musk and Tesla.

In the clip, the carpenter uses wooden panels to cover the metal frame, electric motor, and battery of the Cybertruck replica. He also incorporates a lighting system and decorates the side with the X logo. The clip ends with the father taking the wooden car for a ride with his son.

“I know Tesla has faced many challenges in launching the Cybertruck. However, I still have unwavering faith in your vision and the amazing capabilities of Tesla. I believe that this special vehicle will eventually become a reality. It would be an honor to dedicate this wooden Cybertruck to you and Tesla,” the YouTuber wrote in the caption.

Soon after, the article reached Elon Musk. The billionaire was very interested and replied: “Absolutely. Appreciate it.”

The clip was shared on YouTube at that time and attracted more than 935,000 views and more than 14,000 likes.

“This is one of the most beautiful Cybertrucks ever to hit the road and I would love to see it prominently displayed at Tesla HQ. What a legend. We can all appreciate that he took the time to build this car and then surprised his son with it,” one user wrote.

Another commented: “Let’s take a moment and appreciate his hard work. It was so cool to see him build this truck and then drive it with his kids. Awesome!!!”

After the video about the process of making the wooden Tesla Cybertruck appeared on the channel, many foreign news sites published articles about the car. The famous technology site Ubergizmo wrote: “With its exterior featuring light-colored wood, the wooden Tesla Cybertruck is definitely a unique creation.”

Meanwhile, American auto magazine Torque News was “impressed by the amazing craftsmanship of a few individuals”. Autoevolution expected the wooden version to appear on the day of the real version’s handover.

Unlike Elon Musk, it took Truong Van Dao and his team just 100 days to create a fully functional wooden Tesla Cybertruck.

The wooden car was created for Elon Musk himself. On the X ND-WoodArt account, Mr. Dao wrote a letter to the Tesla boss.

In a post on November 3, he wrote: “Dear Elon Musk, I am a passionate content creator with a deep love for wooden cars and a great admiration for both you and Tesla. Over the years, I have embarked on a number of wooden car projects to gain valuable experience. And today I have launched a car that I am very impressed with, the Cybertruck. It is also a car that many viewers love and want me to build.

I understand that Tesla has faced many challenges in bringing the Cybertruck to life. However, I have always had faith in his vision and Tesla’s capabilities. I believe that this particular vehicle will eventually be successful.

I hope to have the honor of presenting this wooden Cybertruck to you and Tesla, and wish you and Tesla continued success and maintain their position in the international arena.”

About 12 hours later, Elon Musk actually took notice and left a response: “Sure, I appreciate it.”

Not only Elon Musk, one of the Tesla-related accounts, SpringTesla, was blue-ticked, responding: “As mentioned, Mr. Musk is very interested in real content creators, especially related to Tesla. Good job!”.

After reading Elon Musk’s response, Mr. Dao was looking forward to receiving instructions on how to send the wooden Cybertruck to the Tesla CEO.

The process of making the wooden car has been described in detail in a video posted on the Youtube channel ND – Woodworking Art. To date, the video has attracted 280,000 views. In addition, the video was also shared on the TikTok account, attracting a total of 50 million views after 4 days.

How is the wooden version of Tesla Cybertruck made?

The process of making the Cybertruck out of wood begins with welding metal bars to form the frame of the vehicle. Then, Mr. Dao installs the suspension system, steering system, disc brakes and electric motor.

In addition to the metal frame, he used wood to make the body and interior of the pickup truck. The cuts on the body look very nice and match each other. Not only the frame and shell, the rims are also made of wood and imitate the design of the original.

In addition, the wooden Tesla Cybertruck also has rearview mirrors, wipers, and a full interior from Tesla’s Yoke-style steering wheel to the entertainment screen.

The meticulousness in the Tesla Cybertruck manufacturing project also pushed the excitement of fans of this car model to the extreme, when a wooden ATV appeared, the same type that Tesla introduced with the Cybertruck.

For his fully functional wooden Tesla Cybertruck, Dao installed a bright LED strip at the front intake of the vehicle, similar to the one on Elon Musk’s upcoming model. In a nod to the Tesla founder, he even carved a giant ‘X’, the new name of Twitter under Elon Musk, and painted it white to create a sparkling effect even when driving in the daytime.

What does foreign media say?

After the video about the process of making the wooden Tesla Cybertruck appeared on the channel, many foreign news sites published articles about the car.

The famous technology site Ubergizmo wrote: “With its light-colored wood exterior , the wooden Tesla Cybertruck is definitely a unique creation.” The American auto magazine Torque News was “impressed by the great craftsmanship of a few individuals.” The Autoevolution site is very hopeful that the wooden version will appear on the day the real version is delivered.

Even the car site Carbuzz with more than 3 million subscribers rates the wooden version higher than the real one (based on the information and images available so far).

The article describes the wooden shell as being carefully measured and cut, reflecting the rugged, angular design of the Cybertruck. In particular, the site notes that the gaps in the body are even fewer than those on test versions of the real car running on the road.

In fact, Tesla has had a hard time developing the Cybertruck from prototype to commercial product. Recently, Elon Musk himself confessed: “We dug ourselves a hole with the Cybertruck.”

What he was referring to was the complexity of mass-producing a vehicle with such a unique shape. The Tesla Cybertruck is equipped with tempered glass, a body made entirely of cold-rolled stainless steel , up to 3mm thick, advertised as bulletproof and amphibious.

Since the prototype was introduced in 2019, Tesla has received about 1 million orders for this model. The first delivery will take place at the end of November with a very small number of cars.

It’s unclear whether this milestone is guaranteed, as Elon Musk has repeatedly pushed back the delivery of the Tesla Cybertruck. At least he now has a prototype in hand, albeit one made of wood rather than steel.
